A student felt his instructor’s wrath after informing them via text that he was getting two extra lessons from another ADI. The resulting fallout wasn’t pretty.

Breaking up can be tough it seems as student Matt Connell, 18, from Leyland, Lancashire discovered. Matt texted his instructor to tell them that he had booked two extra lessons with another ADI before his impending test. Trouble is that it appears that the instructor didn’t take kindly to this ‘doubling-up’, giving Matt a dressing down because the learner had allegedly turned down double lessons that the ADI had already offered.

Seemingly baffled, Matt posted the text exchange on Twitter under the heading: “Why is my driving instructor acting as if I have cheated on him?”:

But while many of us will find the exchange amusing (or perplexing), it does pose a serious underlying question – what is the right approach for both students and ADIs when such situations arise? Is it bad form to use two instructors?
