Small numbers of driving and vehicle examiners are on strike today and tomorrow (19th and 20th November) – so should you still turn up for your practical test?
According to the DVSA, yes because it is “doing all it can to make sure that driving tests go ahead as planned”. Also, if you should arrive for your test only to find that it’s been cancelled, you can claim out-of-pocket expenses to get your costs back. You also won’t need to contact the DVSA to rebook; instead, the agency will contact you within 5-10 working days with a new test appointment.
The sting in the tail though is that if you don’t arrive for your test and it has been cancelled, then you won’t be able to claim expenses plus you’ll need to rebook the test yourself. Head here to find out more info about how to make a claim. Finally, bear in mind that theory tests remain unaffected by the strike so there’s no excuse not to turn up!
