A small number of examiners are all set to continue their strike action next week – but will it affect your big day?

Because of an ongoing contractual dispute between unions representing driving examiners and the DVSA, learners should be aware that their practical tests might be affected. Here is a list of regions where the strike action is taking place and their dates:

Tuesday 1 December 2015 North East, North West and Scotland.

Wednesday 2 December 2015 West Midlands, East Midlands, Yorkshire and the Humber and Wales.

Thursday 3 December 2015 London, South East, East of England and South West.

Friday 4 December 2015 All of Great Britain.

The DVSA expects any disruption to be minimal and recommends that you still turn up for your test  as replacement examiners should be available. If you want to avoid any potential risk though, you can rebook your driving test here – do bear in mind that you must give three day’s notice before your test date or else you’ll be charged for the test again.

If you should arrive at the test centre and find that there is no examiner available, the DVSA will book a new appointment for you at the earliest possible date and send you the new booking details. Plus any travel expenses you incurred to make your way to the cancelled test will be refunded by the DVSA – click here for more information. Remember, you must have turned up for your test to be able to claim back any expenses. Finally, theory tests remain unaffected by the strike action.
